In search of talented and qualified professionals our team members Ms. Navina John, Mr, Shailesh Singh, Mr. Ashok Mishra, Mr. Rishu Agarwal and Ms. Pooja Khanna visited SMS College at Varanasi.
This visit was a success as we have 5 new members who will soon be a part of our team in Finance, HR & Marketing.
It was an honor to have our team member Ms. Navina John as a panelist of Panel discussion of IPPTA’s Zonal Seminar 2018 held at The Park Hyderabad, Raj Bhavan Road, Hyderabad on 23rd& 24th Nov’18. Our Strategy Head Mr. Ved Krishna & Business Head Mr. Jagdeep Hira attended the same. Ms. Navina had put her thoughts on the topic Leveraging Talent through Inclusivity, increasing the female ratio in the workplace & looking for the opportunities for females in the paper industry. There were 2 other panelists who were the part of the discussion: Ms. TanujaAbburi, Founder, BeyondPinks.com and Ms. Monika Reddy, HR Consultant. The moderator for this discussion was Mr. MukundMenon, COO, International Paper India.
Our team members Ms. Zuby Ahmed, Ms. Smita Dubey, Ms. Navina John & Ms. Pooja Khanna had attended the 8th Global Summit on skill development which was organized by CII at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 22nd& 23rd Nov’18. The theme of this summit was to know about the International Best Practices: Creating a Global Skilled Talent Pool. This summit was organized by CII in partnership with Switzerland as a country partner and government of Uttar Pradesh as state partner. The discussion included Swiss Vocational Education Training System (VET) which is recognized for its quality & contribution to make Switzerland one of the most competitive economies in the world. The major discussions of this summit were:
i. The talent demand & supply conundrum
ii. Skilling lessons from Switzerland
iii. India’s strategic viability for global players
iv. Indian front-runners in a globally skilled talent pool.
v. Potential of U.P. as a talent hub.
vi. Importance of apprenticeship
On 09th and 10th November, 2018 YPL had its Audit Committee, Strategic Committee, IT Committee and Board Meetings in Hotel Ranjees, Lucknow.
On 09th November, 2018 :Audit Committee meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Mr. G.N. Gupta together with the discussion on Internal Audit Report of Quarter 2 of the financial year 2018-19 approved by the Audit Committee. A new Committee, Information Technology (IT) Committee meeting was also held on 09th November, 2018 being Chaired by Ms. Sonali Tipre. Being the first meeting, objectives of the committee along with the present state of IT and related issues were discussed in the meeting. Followed by Strategic Committee Meeting where strategic plans and innovation was the topic of discussion. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Basant Kumar Khaitan.
On 10th November, 2018: the Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. K.D. Pudumjee, chaired the YPL Board meeting. Financials for the 2nd quarter ended 30th September, 2018 were approved by the Board.
Other Major discussions were insights from Strategic & Audit Committee presentations on the business performance & expansion plan of PM3 was presented in front of the Board. Discussion over the progress related to the ‘tableware’ and also production, challenges, sales and profitability of both the Paper business as well as the tableware business were main considerations.
Mr. Shankarshan Shukla, participated in a seminar on “Relevance of Chemical Engineering in Academia & Industry”organized by Deptt.Of Chemical Engineering, Madan Mohan Malviya- University Of Technology ,Gorakhpur on 15th Oct.-2018.
He delivered an expert talk on “Relevance and Application of Chemical Engineering In Pulp & Paper Industry”which was well taken by audience comprising of students,faculty and other experts present.
Professors from IIT-BHU, IIT-Roorkee , Research Scientist(CSIR)- IIP,Dehradoon and GM - Indian Glycol Limited,Gorakhpur were the other expert speakers.
He was also facilitated by a momento by MMM, University of Technology,Gorakhpur
Mr Ved Krishna from Team Yash participated in the National Conference on current issues of environmental health, climate change and its management & 38th Annual Session of the Academy of Environmental Biology hosted at his hometown in Faizabad. Professors & Experts from different part of the country participated in the same. He spoke about his concern & solutions provided by his company for the environment. He was felicitated with a tulsi saplings & a momento by Avadh University Faizabad
On 22nd September, 2018: 4th Board Meeting of FY 2018-19 held at Hotel Vijay Intercontinental, Kanpur. In the meeting, cost audit report for the FY 2017-18 was placed before the Board for their review and comments. Presentations before the Board were made by company officials.
Designation of Mr. Jagdeep Hira changed from Joint Managing Director to Managing Director and Mr. Ved Krishna from Managing Director to Executive Vice Chairman.
Annual General Meeting of the Company also held on 22nd September, 2018 at Hotel Vijay Intercontinental, Kanpur. As per notice circulated to concerned earlier, 15 matters were put to vote by the investors at the meeting. After the voting, shareholders interacted with the Members of the Board regarding their views and queries on the various topics related to the Company.
The board at Yash Papers decided and announced that Mr Jagdeep Hira would now be the Managing Director of the company. He would be taking over from Mr Ved Krishna who would now be the Executive Vice Chairman.
Jagdeep has so far been heading the operations as Joint Managing Director and now his role would enlarge as the company moves from a pulp and paper organisation to a provider of sustainable packaging products.
Jagdeep comes with a strong pulp and paper background. He is an alumnus of BITS, Pilani and has worked in various capacities in various Paper companies including BILT, Pudumjee, Century and Trident.
Yash Papers has shown stronger performance and growth since his return to the company a couple of years back. The company now has entered the domain of providing Compostable Food Service products under its brand CHUK and plans to grow the same along with building competence in creating paper for bags and flexible packaging.
